Writing expressively through poetry allows for self-reflection and growth. Writing creatively releases the stress connected to trauma experienced in life (Harvard Health Publishing). Connecting feeling and thoughts with words and documenting the experience removes the bondage associated with negative and distressing life events. It's like discovering who-done-it in a murder mystery, but for yourself. The human experience requires that we understand we aren't alone in our human experience. Hence, why sharing my poetry is vital. I know how you feel; I understand the pain. You too, can survive and live life. The beautiful thing about creative writing is that you are the creator. You have a brain full of material you can tap into. You can start today in telling your testimony of overcoming, becoming, and developing into the person you have envisioned.


Take the first courageous step – write.
